The currency is regulated by the UTAREK Reserve Board (URB), which convenes every six months or as required to review economic issues.

At its last session, the URB set the zonar at a stabilized rate of 1.3 x US dollars currency.  All transactions on this site are automatically converted to Zonar for internal purposes and ease of exchange in UTAREK.

THE SYMBOL
The basic Zonar symbol consists of 4 horizontal lines, which represent the first four planet orbits.  The fourth represents Mars and is accented by a large dot, or planet.

There is currently no paper money in circulation in UTAREK.  All transactions are by means of micro portable electron emitters, which can be attached to watches, jewelry, etc. or a full wrist implant.  All transactions are voice activated for ease and security.

Note: Some paper money does exist, which was in use prior to the full city consolidation.  Such currency is considered collectable and is still valid for trade but many think it too cumbersome for daily use.
