Each Urbyne is preceded by the designated name for its prime zoning function.  The three zones are Commerce, Culture and Entertainment.  Zoning is organized such that smaller separate functions can occur in various sections of the city, but to group and intensify the main use per Urbyne.

In selecting your residence, you will need to know which Urbyne is right for you.

The three Urbynes are named as follows:

KADMUS URBYNE (Culture)
Kadmus is the cultural, educational and governmental center of UTAREK. Museums, symphony hall and opera are all rooted here and gathered around a large oval botanical garden. The garden sets a quiet and passive focus for all these activities while creating a memorable destination. With exotic Earth plant life as a backdrop, symphony concerts, outdoor exhibits and gatherings all flourish here.

Also, sharing the garden is the main, and for the moment, only University on Mars. This combined campus/garden, with overlooking classrooms, share all the opportunities of adjacent cultural events.

Further up in the main tower is the city council, which centers around the domed council hall. Lively debates by elected officials keep the hall, council chambers, and nearby government facilities a very active location.

KROTON URBYNE (Entertainment)
Kroton is the entertainment center of UTAREK. Theaters, nightclubs and restaurants abound here. Featuring the latest in stage and screen entertainment, the sheer exuberance of this area creates an almost continuous hub of activity.

That hub is centralized in the towers main lower oval from which all activities revolve similar in gesture to New York's famed Time Square. The space is filled with neon, billboards, floating images and bright lights. Even the ovals outer glass shell becomes a fiber optic projection surface.

With recent links to Earth, it has become possible to do inter planetary simulcast shows using advanced holographic procedures. These new shows are even capable of conveying live audience response, which is inter mixed with the live show itself. From concerts to theater, this system has gained much popularity and spawned a new wave of UTAREK based entertainment companies with adjacent studios.

Kroton is also the current tourist mecca, playing host to both residents and long voyage travelers who need a place of enlightened relaxation.

CYBARIS URBYNE (Commerce)
Cybaris is the heart of the shopping and retail experienced in UTAREK. From small specialty shops to large multi department merchandisers, a wide range of outlets are all gathered here. The retail is arranged to take advantage of the lower level canal and park system and in fact spills out into this area.

In addition to it's retail component, Cybaris also houses the majority of city wide commercial office space. For example, Mars Planetary Development Corporation is headquartered here as is the future home of the UTAREK Stock Exchange, and a variety of off planet related offices.

Because all residences are also virtual offices, commercial space is kept to a minimum. Further, a system of shared multi use space can be found in office contingent zones, which maximize actual available office space.

A recent addition to Cybaris is the temporary sports stadium, which occupies the upper portion of the gold oval. Here the entire inner wall is dedicated to stadium seating. The space and seating arrangement allows for flexible venue change.
